Playing With My Big Shot

I am really enjoying my Big Shot machine with all the folders and dies I bought!

I made this simple card for a friend.

The butterfly is only glued down in the middle which allows the wings to be bent upwards.

I used ...
 Tim Holtz embossing folder (Paisley)
Martha Stewart Edge punch
Memory Box "Snowflake Corner" die
Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly" die
Paper from the "Lizzy Collection" by Anna Griffin

Quickie Birthday

Uhoh, forgot someone's birthday!
Layers are a great way to put together a clean looking card quickly.

Origami Swmsuit

The theme for July's tea and card swap (over at Fran's),  was welcome summer, with the optional colours of green, blue and yellow.

I wanted to try a little origami bathing suit.

Here's instructions for the swimsuit. You can find the printout @ The Origami Club

The swimsuit uses a 4" by 4"square

Get Well Band-aids

My granddaughter is sick with a nasty ear infection. I made a quick get well card for her.

I like the real band-aids!

TriShutter Christmas Cards

We're having a heatwave, have been for a couple of weeks now. Since I can't go outside because I may melt, I decided to get an early start on my Christmas cards!

Traditional colours and patterns for this TriShutter card.

And less traditional, pretty in pink.

Origami Shirt and Tie

Another tea swap card (June). The theme for this one was "masculine".

Being so close to Father's Day, I thought of making a tie card. Since I don't have a die cutting machine (yet), I thought origami would be the way to go. I found a great video tutorial and instructions for making this card HERE .

The tie is origami, made with a 4 inch square.
I used tiny buttons for the collar and a metal stick on as a tie pin.
I think it's the cutest thing ever!

I also made an envelope and teabag or "treats" holder.

The paper is from the Jen Wilson "Complete Boy" collection by My Mind's Eye.

Here's instructions for the tie that you can print. Just click on the diagram to enlarge it.

Use a 4X4" piece of paper to make the tie.

Designer Paper

I've always used "average" paper for my scrapping. Since most of the page is covered with photos, I really didn't see the sense in buying designer- AKA expensive papers.

Now that I am making cards, I have splurged on some gorgeous paper. I have a weakness for K &Company paper and embellishments. I try to wait for the big sales, and scoop up all the things I have been drooling over for months.

The paper and embellishments for this card are designed by Susan Winget, for K &Company. I make all my own envelopes, and the paper for this one is from "Mosaic Memories" by Recollections.

Another Tool

Just had to get another edge punch!

I find myself lurking in the "tool" aisles at craft stores for extended periods of time! The cost of said tools here in Canada are quite high. This edge and corner punch set by Martha Stewart was $40.00... so, I can only buy one at a time, and picking just one is difficult!

I am pretty pleased with this one!

Gatefold Pansy

As a "newbie" to card making, I am totally amazed at all the material, tools, and websites I have come across. My head is reeling with ideas for creating cards, and my rather limited supplies are begging to have more and more join them.

As a scrapper, I really haven't used many tools. A pair of scissors, a straight edge cutter and some scalloping scissors.

That is all about to change!

I bought my first "tool", a Martha Stewart edge punch a couple of months ago.

First Card Ever

This is the first card I ever made. It was for a tea and card swap.

Not too polished, but not bad for a first attempt!

Welcome to Card Craze

Welcome to my blog. I love paper crafting!

Scrapping and (now) card making are a couple of my favourite hobbies. I'm fairly new at making cards, and I am just discovering how many fabulous possibilities there are. This blog is a simple record of cards I make, swaps I participate in, and cards I receive.
